A CLOSER LOOK

Surface scanning with adjustable settings and scan summaries

TempPro’s TempScan CORE TP30 is for non-contact surface-temperature readings, with controls that help compare a surface rather than showing only the last number. Adjustable emissivity from 0.1 to 1.0 lets you follow the settings appropriate to the material, while MAX, MIN and AVG summarize the last scan. These are useful differences when surface settings and scan feedback matter to your choice.

The stated target range is −58 to 1022°F. A 12:1 distance-to-spot ratio relates distance to the sensed area, so follow the instructions for the size of target being measured; the laser marker is not the whole measurement area. TempPro states a response around half a second, ±1.5 percent accuracy and a 0.1°F display increment. The increment is display resolution, not accuracy to a tenth of a degree.

Two AAA batteries are included, and wipe-clean care is specified. Choose the TP30 over the gray LEC-420 when the higher stated upper target range is necessary. Use it to read surfaces, not oven air or the center of food; its target range does not permit leaving the thermometer body in that heat. A charging system is not established for this AAA-powered model.

Where this model is useful

  • Adjustable emissivity lets you use the material settings specified in the operating instructions.
  • MAX, MIN and AVG provide summaries of the last scan as well as individual readings.

Trade-offs to check

  • Target range does not establish body heat resistance or ambient operating range.
  • Seller accuracy is not a calibration certificate; 0.1°F is display resolution.
  • Rechargeable wording is not a confirmed charging feature.

Fit & buying checks for this reference

Match target size and distance

Use the model instructions for the sensing area; the laser mark alone does not prove the entire measured area.

Identify the surface setting

Choose emissivity according to the documented instructions for the actual surface, not an invented universal pizza-stone setting.

Care instructions

Care stated in the record

Wipe clean is the supplied care instruction; no immersion or charging method is established.

Questions about this selected product

Can it measure the air temperature inside the oven?

The listed sensing role is non-contact surface temperature, not a documented ambient-air probe.

Are batteries supplied?

Yes. The record identifies two included AAA batteries.

Does 1022°F mean the thermometer may be left in that heat?

No. It is the target measurement limit, not a body or operating-environment heat rating.
